2024 Chevrolet Traverse RS Review: A Stylish and Spacious Family Hauler

The Chevrolet Traverse has undergone a significant redesign for 2024, boasting a bolder appearance, a more refined interior, and improved technology. But does it have what it takes to compete in the crowded three-row SUV segment?

Exterior and Design

The new Traverse is a head-turner, with a more aggressive and truck-like design compared to its predecessor. The top-of-the-line RS trim adds sporty touches like blacked-out accents and 22-inch wheels.

Interior and Technology

The interior has been significantly upgraded, featuring a massive 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 11-inch digital instrument cluster, and premium materials. The spacious cabin offers comfortable seating for up to eight passengers, with ample legroom even in the third row.

Engine and Performance

The Traverse is powered by a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. While it offers respectable acceleration, the engine can sound a bit rough under heavy load.

Driving Dynamics

The Traverse handles its size well, but the steering feels somewhat vague and disconnected. It’s a comfortable cruiser for long drives, but it lacks the sporty handling of some competitors.

Cargo Space and Storage

The Traverse offers generous cargo space, with 97.6 cubic feet available with the seats folded flat. There are also plenty of storage compartments throughout the cabin, including a large center console and a hidden floor compartment.

Value and Conclusion

The redesigned Traverse is a significant improvement over its predecessor, offering a stylish design, a spacious and well-equipped interior, and decent performance. However, the engine’s noise and the lackluster steering feel may be drawbacks for some. At its price point, there may be more compelling options available in the competitive three-row SUV market.
