£3 Billion General Works Contract for London Councils Now Open for Bids

Haringey Borough Council in London is in charge of a new construction program that aims to reshape how building projects are managed. This program, called the London Construction Programme (LCP), is designed to provide opportunities not just for large construction companies but also for smaller and medium-sized businesses. This effort focuses on giving these smaller firms a fair chance to participate in construction projects across the area.
The LCP will serve various needs, including new building projects, fire safety upgrades, renovations or retrofits, and regular maintenance work. It will especially benefit members of the program, which include local councils, NHS Trusts, and housing associations that need construction services.
This program is set to run for five years and follows new rules laid out in the Procurement Act. These rules are specifically designed to support smaller firms and ensure that projects are delivered at the best value. Part of this process includes evaluating how projects impact the community and provide social benefits.
The LCP includes several categories of work, each with a different budget range, number of available slots for contractors, and specific opportunities for smaller companies. Here’s an overview of the key categories within the program:
New Build Projects:
- GN1: For projects up to £7.5 million, there are 10 slots available, with 3 reserved for micro-sized companies.
- GN2: Budget range from £6 million to £15 million also has 10 slots available, with 2 slots each for micro and small companies.
- GN3: For larger projects over £14 million, there are 8 slots available, with 2 slots for small companies.
