iRobot 205 Robovac: Capable of Eight Weeks Without Emptying

iRobot has recently introduced a series of new Roomba vacuum models, highlighting innovative features aimed at enhancing home cleaning experiences. Among these is the Roomba 205 DustCompactor Combo Robot, which boasts the title of “the industry’s first onboard mechanical debris-compacting system.” This means that the vacuum compresses dust and debris similar to how a garbage compactor works, allowing users to go up to eight weeks without the need to empty the vacuum’s contents. This feature eliminates the requirement for a separate debris bin, simplifying the cleaning process.
In addition to its unique compaction technology, the Roomba 205 is a versatile hybrid vacuum and mop. It comes equipped with a four-stage vacuuming system that utilizes ClearView LiDAR technology for enhanced navigation capabilities. iRobot claims that this model delivers “250 percent more power-lifting suction and improved cleaning performance” when compared to earlier Roomba models from the 600 series.
Another noteworthy model is the Roomba Plus 405 Combo Robot, which focuses on improving the mopping function. This vacuum includes advanced DualClean mop pads that can spin at 200 RPM, providing a deeper clean on hard surfaces. The Roomba Plus 405 is also paired with the AutoWash dock, a new feature that automatically washes and dries the mop pads, making maintenance much easier for users.
The company has also launched the Roomba 505 Combo Robot, which is designed to excel in edge cleaning, ensuring that dirt and debris don’t accumulate in corners or along walls. To enhance the user experience further, iRobot has updated the Roomba Home app to offer these new models a more user-friendly interface. This redesign enables users to better control their vacuums, create cleaning routines and schedules, monitor their devices in real-time, and access advanced customized cleaning options.
The prices for these new Roomba models vary. The Roomba 205 DustCompactor Combo Robot starts at $469, while the Roomba Plus 405 Combo Robot with AutoWash Dock is priced at $800. Shifting to the higher end of the spectrum, the Roomba 505 is available for around $1,000. For those looking for a budget-friendly option, iRobot has also unveiled the Roomba 105, which comes with a lower price tag of $319. Preorders for these products are set to begin on March 18 through iRobot’s website and selected retailers.
These new offerings from iRobot exemplify the ongoing evolution of robotic vacuum technology, focusing not just on cleaning efficiency but also on convenience and automation. With features that cater to various cleaning needs and preferences, iRobot continues to reinforce its position as a leader in the smart home appliance industry, responding to consumer demands for better performance and ease of use.
