Ajith’s Film Earnings Decline on Day 21 Before Upcoming Netflix Release
The Tamil movie “Vidaamuyarchi,” which features popular actor Ajith Kumar, had an impressive start when it was released, making a significant amount of money on its opening day. However, the excitement did not last, as the movie’s earnings started to drop quickly in the following days.
As per the latest figures from industry tracker Sacnilk, “Vidaamuyarchi” has earned a total of ₹78.5 crore in India from its Tamil version. However, by Day 21, which was a Thursday, the movie’s performance was disappointing, as it earned less than ₹1 crore, pulling in only ₹3 lakhs on that day. This drop in earnings was quite noticeable compared to the previous days; on Wednesday, it made ₹5 lakhs and on Tuesday, it earned ₹7 lakhs.
Despite its recent struggles at the box office, “Vidaamuyarchi” has still managed to establish itself as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025. It nearly reached ₹78 crore with its Tamil version, significantly outperforming another Tamil movie released this year called “Madha Gaja Raja,” which earned around ₹47.56 crore.
On a different note, “Vidaamuyarchi” is set to be available for streaming on Netflix starting March 3. The movie will be released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Netflix shared the exciting news on its social media, saying, “No breaks. No limits. Just Vidaamuyarchi.”
Looking ahead, there’s much anticipation surrounding Ajith Kumar’s next project. While he has not officially announced what he will be working on next, there are rumors that he might collaborate with director Karthik Subbaraj, who is known for the film “Retro.” This potential new movie is tentatively titled AK64.
For those unfamiliar with the plot, “Vidaamuyarchi” is an action thriller and is inspired by the 1997 American film “Breakdown.” The story centers around Arjun, played by Ajith Kumar, who embarks on a dangerous journey to save his wife, Kayal, portrayed by Trisha Krishnan. She has been kidnapped by a group in Azerbaijan, leading Arjun into a series of perilous adventures.
The movie is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions. In addition to Ajith Kumar, the cast includes Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Arav, and Ramya Subramanian.
