AMD reveals pricing and launch details for RX 9070 and 9070 XT

AMD has officially announced the prices and availability of its new Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards. The RX 9070 will be sold for $549, while the RX 9070 XT will be available for $599. Both models are set to hit the market on March 6.
Along with the pricing information, AMD has provided detailed specifications for these graphics cards. The RX 9070 features 56 compute units, with a game clock speed of 2.1GHz and a boost clock that can reach up to 2.5GHz. It has a power limit of 220 watts. On the other hand, the RX 9070 XT has more power with 64 compute units, a game clock speed of 2.4GHz, and a boost clock that can go up to 3.0GHz, along with a higher power target of 304 watts.
Both graphics cards come with 16GB of memory and have a 256-bit memory interface, enabling fast data transfer. They also include 64MB of Infinity Cache, which helps improve performance. In terms of connections, both cards support DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b, but they still use the older 8-pin power connectors.
AMD shared some initial benchmark results comparing the RX 9070 and 9070 XT against the previous RX 7900 GRE model. The results show that the RX 9070 is, on average, 21% faster when playing games at 4K resolution across more than 30 titles, which includes both ray-traced and rasterized graphics. The graphics performance is particularly improved in ray tracing games due to advancements in the RDNA 4 technology. As for the RX 9070 XT, it boasts an impressive 42% higher performance in the same games at the same resolution. AMD also claims this card is only about 2% slower than the Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti, which is priced at $750.
In addition to the new graphics cards, AMD introduced FSR 4, which stands for FidelityFX Super Resolution. This is their latest technology aimed at enhancing image quality and generating frames. FSR 4 is designed to work optimally with the new hardware found in the RDNA 4 graphics cards and promises much better image quality than earlier versions of FSR, which worked on a variety of hardware. At launch, FSR 4 will be exclusive to the RX 9000 series and will be compatible with over 30 games, with plans to support more than 75 games by the end of 2025.
Originally, the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT were hinted at during AMD’s keynote presentation at CES 2025 in January. At that time, AMD provided minimal information as they were waiting for Nvidia to unveil its products.
To purchase the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, consumers will need to go through AMD’s board partners, which include well-known companies like Acer, ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vastarmor, XFX, and Yeston. Many retailers have already received shipments, so there should be a good supply on launch day.
