Apple Announces April Release for iOS 18.4 with Exciting New Features

Apple has announced that the new iOS 18.4 will be launched in April 2025. This update is set to introduce several exciting features, enhancing user experience for iPhone and iPad users.
A significant addition in iOS 18.4 is the introduction of Apple News+ Food. This new section will offer subscribers access to a large collection of recipes and food articles from popular publishers like Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, and Food & Wine. It will include thousands of recipes, tips on healthy eating, kitchen essentials, and more. Not only can users browse and search for recipes, but they can also save their favorites for offline access, making cooking easier and more enjoyable. The recipe format is designed to be user-friendly, taking users step-by-step through each dish.
For those using Apple News+, a subscription service that costs $12.99 per month in the U.S. and is available in several countries including Canada, Australia, and the U.K., the Food section will be included at no extra cost. The Apple News+ service itself provides access to a variety of publications, making it a valuable resource for news and lifestyle content.
Another highlighted feature of iOS 18.4 is the Priority Notifications option. This uses Apple Intelligence technology to help users manage their notifications by highlighting the most important ones on the Lock Screen. Users can turn this feature on in the Settings app, specifically under Notifications. However, it’s worth noting that this new feature requires higher-end models like the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model.
Additionally, iOS 18.4 brings a new Ambient Music feature that will be available in the Control Center. This allows users to listen to curated music playlists designed for various activities, including Sleep, Chill, Productivity, and Wellbeing, making it easier to set the right mood for different moments throughout the day.
There are also improvements in the usability of Apple Intelligence, with the new update supporting more languages, including French, Spanish, and Japanese, among others. Plus, users will have access to a new “Sketch” option for creating images, which adds variety to the existing styles available in the Image Playground feature.
Inside vehicles with advanced dashboard displays, iOS 18.4 will allow CarPlay to show an extra row of app icons, improving navigation. Moreover, it will enable users in the European Union to set a default navigation app, such as Google Maps, and allow global customization of default translation apps.
Coming later with the iOS 18.4 update is the Apple Vision Pro app, which will help users of the Vision Pro headset download apps from the App Store, discover content, and access helpful tips. This app will be available for download alongside the iOS update.
Finally, iOS 18.4 is expected to introduce new emojis. The Unicode Consortium has previewed various new symbols that should be included, such as different facial expressions and everyday objects. Each new iOS version has brought fresh emojis, and iOS 18.4 seems to continue this trend.
In summary, iOS 18.4 promises various new features and improvements, enhancing both functionality and user experience from food recipes to music and notifications. Apple’s commitment to adding new content and enhancing existing functionalities shows their dedication to keeping users engaged and satisfied with their devices.
