Apple Developing Smart Home Doorbell With Support for FaceID and Third-Party Locks: Report

Apple is reportedly making a significant push into the smart home market, with plans to develop a range of new devices and technologies. Among the most intriguing is a smart home doorbell equipped with FaceID facial recognition, allowing users to unlock their doors by simply looking at the doorbell.

This innovative doorbell is rumored to connect wirelessly to a deadbolt lock, potentially offering a seamless and secure entry experience. While Apple currently offers third-party smart home locks in its online store, this would be its first foray into developing its own proprietary smart lock system.

To ensure data security and privacy, the doorbell is expected to utilize Apple’s new Proxima wireless networking chipset. While a release date is not anticipated until late next year, there is a possibility that Apple may partner with a third-party brand like Logitech or Belkin to bring the technology to market.

Beyond the doorbell, Apple is also reportedly developing an AI-powered smart hub with a 6-inch screen, FaceTime support, and a new operating system. This hub could serve as a central control center for various smart home devices and services.

Additionally, Apple is said to be planning upgrades for its Apple TV and HomePod mini devices, incorporating the new Proxima chip for enhanced performance and security.

The company is also rumored to be developing a home security camera that would integrate with its smart hub, potentially competing with established players like Amazon, Google, and Logitech in the home security market.

These developments suggest that Apple is serious about expanding its presence in the smart home sector. By leveraging its expertise in technology, design, and user experience, Apple could disrupt the market and offer innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate with its existing ecosystem of devices and services.
