Asus unveils monitors featuring integrated air purifiers for added convenience.

Asus has recently introduced a unique series of monitors that come with built-in air purification capabilities. Named the VU Air Ionizer series, these displays feature an air ionizer designed to improve the health and well-being of users. Although a monitor with an air purification unit might seem unconventional, Asus offers three models in different sizes, with prices ranging from $130 to $359.
The standout feature of the VU Air Ionizer monitors is their air ionizer. According to Asus, this technology can eliminate pollen, allergens, and other airborne pollutants, reportedly removing up to 90% of dust within a three-hour period. The ionizer has a coverage area of about one cubic meter, making it adequate for individuals working in front of these monitors. One interesting aspect is that these devices do not require any filters, making maintenance easier for users.
The monitors are available in three sizes: 23.8 inches, 27 inches, and 34 inches. The two smaller models, 23.8-inch and 27-inch, are equipped with IPS panels that support 1080p resolution on a 16:9 aspect ratio. They also offer a brightness of 250 nits, 1,300:1 contrast ratios, 178-degree viewing angles, and refresh rates up to 100Hz. This configuration is particularly suitable for those who engage in general computing or multimedia tasks.
On the other hand, the larger 34-inch VU34WCIP-W monitor utilizes a VA panel and boasts a higher resolution of 3440 x 1440, which offers a 21:9 ultrawide viewing experience. This model features a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and brightness of 300 nits, while retaining a refresh rate of 100Hz and a response time of 1 millisecond MPRT, making it ideal for gamers and content creators seeking a larger display landscape.
In addition to their functionalities, Asus has focused on eco-friendly packaging for these monitors. Instead of traditional cardboard boxes that are often discarded after delivery, Asus designed the packaging to be repurposed into useful desk accessories. For the smaller models, the boxes can be transformed into phone holders, desk organizers, or small laptop stands. In contrast, the packaging for the larger monitor can be made into a phone holder, desk organizer, laptop stand, and file holder. This innovative approach promotes better ergonomics by encouraging proper posture, which can help reduce neck and back strain during extended use.
However, some might argue that anyone could DIY similar accessories from regular packaging materials, but Asus’s dedicated design certainly provides a thoughtful touch for customers.
For those interested in enhancing their workspace health, the 23.8-inch Asus VU249HFI-W starts at approximately $129.99. The 27-inch model, the VU279HFI-W, is priced at $159.99, while the 34-inch VU34WCIP-W sells for about $359.99. To further entice potential buyers, Asus offers a complimentary month of Adobe Creative Cloud with each purchase.
Asus has a history of integrating unique features into its products, reflecting a trend of innovation that extends beyond conventional computer hardware. Just last month, they announced a new wireless mouse that can emit customizable scents, showcasing their commitment to blending technology with lifestyle enhancements.
