In February 2025, the Hyundai Creta topped the sales chart for midsize SUVs, selling an impressive 16,317 units, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. The Creta retains its position as the favorite among buyers, outpacing competitors such as the Mahindra Scorpio and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Following the Creta, the Mahindra Scorpio secured the second spot with sales of 13,618 units, but it experienced a 10% decline compared to February 2024 when it sold 15,051 units. In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara held strong with sales of 10,669 units, reflecting a slight 3% drop from the 11,002 units sold during the same month last year.
The Mahindra XUV700 showed stronger performance, achieving a 14% growth with 7,468 units sold, compared to the 6,546 units sold in February 2024. Known for its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and robust design, the XUV700 continues to appeal to customers seeking a premium SUV experience. Meanwhile, the Kia Seltos also saw a modest increase of 3%, recording 6,446 units sold against the 6,265 units from the previous year.
On the other hand, the Toyota Hyryder, recognized for its fuel efficiency, faced a significant downturn, experiencing a 23% decline in sales. It managed to sell only 4,314 units compared to 5,601 units in February 2024.

The Tata Curvv saw a decent performance with 3,483 units sold last month. However, its counterpart, the Tata Safari, witnessed a steep drop of 41%, with sales falling from 2,648 units to just 1,562 units, highlighting a decrease in interest for this three-row SUV.
The Honda Elevate struggled even more, with a 54% decline in sales, dropping to 1,464 units from 3,184 in February 2024. The VW Taigun, while at the end of the top 10 list, exhibited relative stability, experiencing only a slight decrease of 1% in sales, going from 1,286 to 1,271 units.
As the midsize SUV market evolves, many manufacturers are expected to launch new models, particularly in the electric vehicle segment. Notable upcoming launches include the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Tata Harrier EV, with the Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV and Mahindra XEV 7e also expected to hit the market later this year.
