Boy Left Unwell by Incident Involving Taxi Driver in Odeon Cinema Restroom

Taxi Driver Caught Filming Boy in Cinema Bathroom
A chilling incident at an Odeon cinema has revealed the disturbing actions of a taxi driver named Daniel Albertina, who was caught filming a 16-year-old boy using the restroom. This event led to a broader investigation into Albertina’s behavior, unearthing a series of shocking offenses.
The incident occurred last year when the boy, attending a film at Odeon Switch Island, entered the men’s bathroom. While inside a cubicle, he noticed a mobile phone appearing from underneath the wall separating him from the next stall. Alarmed, the boy confronted Albertina, who was in the neighboring cubicle, and quickly notified a staff member about the situation.
Police conducted an investigation and discovered that Albertina, a 39-year-old from Aintree, had arrived at the cinema in a Delta taxi. After identifying him through his employment, authorities seized his laptop and two mobile phones. They found a total of 165 indecent images of children on these devices, including videos of a teenage girl showering. Disturbingly, the files also contained extreme pornographic material depicting sexual acts involving animals.
In interviews with police, Albertina admitted to several incidents of voyeurism over a six-week period at the same cinema, acknowledging his attraction to both young males and females. His actions have left the young victim deeply affected. He expressed his feelings in a statement read to the court, revealing that the shocking incident has made him wary of public spaces and even affected his ability to use public restrooms without feeling violated.
Albertina, who had no prior criminal record, displayed remorse during the court proceedings. His defense attorney pointed out that he had previously led a law-abiding life while providing for his family. The lawyer mentioned Albertina’s desire for help regarding his behavior, suggesting that this troubling issue had been hidden for years.
Despite these arguments, the severity of his offenses could not be overlooked. Albertina faced multiple charges, including two counts of voyeurism, four counts of possessing indecent images, nine counts of making indecent images, and four counts related to possessing extreme pornographic content. During the court session, he sat with his head in his hands, visibly distressed.
When sentencing Albertina to 18 months in prison, Judge Andrew Menary KC condemned his actions. He characterized Albertina’s conduct as appalling and highlighted that the discovery of his behavior stemmed from a single incident at the cinema, which exposed a long-standing obsession with sexual gratification involving minors.
The judge noted that Albertina had developed a pattern of entering restrooms after dropping off passengers, taking advantage of the opportunity to secretly film others. His actions were labeled as outrageous, even drawing a reaction from a court that has witnessed numerous disturbing cases.
In addition to his prison sentence, Albertina has been subject to a five-year restraining order and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He is also required to register as a sex offender for the next decade, a measure meant to help prevent further incidents and protect the public from similar offenses.
