But if you specifically want to take part in protests against Musk, there’s another website called Tesla Takedown that’s dedicated to this cause. This site allows visitors to search for protests by entering their zip code. For instance, someone looking up a zip code from Los Angeles can find a list of protests happening in the city and nearby areas, such as Long Beach and Irvine, primarily at Tesla dealerships during the weekend of March 1.
The Tesla Takedown website was created by Alex Winter, who is both an actor and an activist. He launched this site through his production company, Trouper. Alex wants to make it easier for people to find organized protests against Musk, especially since people are coming together to voice their frustrations.
According to Winter, the website has exceeded expectations, recently recording over 45,000 unique visitors eager to learn more about the anti-Musk protests. He articulated three main goals for the Tesla Takedown movement. First, the aim is to decrease the value of Tesla cars and stocks, persuading shareholders to consider voting Musk out. Second, Winter wants the site to offer a simple way for upset citizens to protest against what they see as Musk’s harmful impact on the U.S. government. Lastly, he wants to bring more awareness to Musk’s actions and educate the public about issues related to him and his ventures.
It’s important to realize that not every protest against Musk is listed on the Tesla Takedown site. Musk’s many business engagements make it challenging to keep track of every single protest. For example, there is a demonstration planned at SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, California, which is not included on the Tesla Takedown platform.
While Musk hasn’t been formally part of the government, he has been assigned by Trump to supervise a project known as DOGE. This initiative aims to cut down the federal budget by $2 trillion, leading to many job losses as various agencies navigate these funding changes. Despite Musk managing discussions that resemble cabinet meetings, he is not officially in charge of DOGE according to the Department of Justice.
Congress ultimately decides federal funding, but with a Republican majority, many lawmakers seem unwilling to stop Musk’s actions. This situation leaves many people feeling powerless and searching for ways to express their discontent. Protests against Musk are seen as a small but impactful way for the public to voice their concerns.
Winter notes a growing sentiment among individuals to withdraw their investments in Tesla, indicating that the company’s stock is in a downward trend. Though they remain cautious, Winter and supporters of the movement remain hopeful that everyday citizens can make a difference in addressing Musk’s influence.
