FEAR Platinum Joins Preservation Initiative to Honor Monolith’s Impact on Gaming

GOG, a digital distribution platform for video games, has exciting news for gamers and fans of the classic FEAR series. Next month, GOG will add FEAR Platinum to its Preservation Program. This announcement comes as a response to the surprising closure of Monolith Productions, the studio behind FEAR, which was announced by Warner Bros earlier this week.
Initially, GOG had plans to include FEAR Platinum, which features the original game and its expansions, in the program later. However, with the sudden closure of Monolith Productions, they decided to speed up the release in order to honor the studio’s significant contributions to the gaming world.
In a statement released on social media, the GOG team expressed their commitment to celebrating the creative talents that have shaped the gaming industry. They highlighted Monolith Productions’ impact on players, noting that the studio has provided incredibly memorable gaming experiences thanks to its innovative gameplay and engaging storytelling. GOG stated, βTo honor their legacy, we’re proud to announce that F.E.A.R. Platinum will be joining the GOG Preservation Program β and sooner than planned, with other Monolith icons to join eventually as well.β
Also on the way to GOG’s Preservation Program are several LEGO games, which will be available without digital rights management (DRM) and will be optimized for modern gaming systems. These additions demonstrate GOG’s dedication to preserving beloved games and ensuring they remain accessible to players, both now and in the future.
GOG’s Preservation Program was launched in November of last year. The program aims to keep older games compatible with current and future systems so that they can be enjoyed by a new generation of players. Just last month, GOG joined the European Federation of Game Archives, Museums and Preservation Projects (EFGAMP) as part of its ongoing efforts work towards the preservation of video games.
The addition of FEAR Platinum and the LEGO titles showcases GOG’s commitment to maintaining the legacy of classic games. By making these games available again, GOG allows both long-time fans and newcomers to experience the thrill and creativity that gaming has to offer.
For more details on the LEGO games being added, you can find additional information on GOG’s official website. Overall, these announcements highlight GOG’s active role in the gaming community and its efforts to celebrate and preserve gaming history.
