Google Pixel 9a Price Revealed Before Launch: What We Know So Far

Google is set to release a new, more affordable smartphone called the Pixel 9a. There are strong indications that it will be priced similarly to the previous model, the Pixel 8a, which was launched in May 2024. According to reports, the Pixel 9a will have a price of €549 (around 50,200 Indian Rupees) for the 128GB version and €609 (approximately 55,700 Indian Rupees) for the 256GB version in many European countries. In the United States, it’s expected to retail for about $499 (around 43,400 Indian Rupees).
Interestingly, while the Pixel 9a is rumored to have a redesign, the pricing remains mostly unchanged. However, there are also mixed reports regarding pricing, suggesting that the 128GB version could be around $679 (about 59,100 Indian Rupees) and the 256GB model at $809 (around 70,500 Indian Rupees). As prices for smartphones are rising everywhere, it’s noteworthy that Google is choosing to keep the Pixel 9a’s price in line with what the Pixel 8a was when it was launched.
In India, we’re still waiting for the official pricing announcement of the Pixel 9a, but experts believe it will be similar to what the Pixel 8a was priced at. The Pixel 8a originally sold for Rs 52,999 for the 128GB model and Rs 59,999 for the 256GB version. If Google sticks to a similar pricing strategy, the Pixel 9a could start at around Rs 52,999, while the 256GB model might reach Rs 64,000, leading to a difference of over Rs 10,000 between the two storage options.
As for the specifications, there are rumors surrounding the Pixel 9a’s design. Recently leaked videos show that it will move away from the traditional camera module that previous Pixels had. Instead, the Pixel 9a will feature a smooth design with a flat back. This new design will have the Google logo in the center and the camera module integrated into the phone’s body, without it standing out.
The front design has not been revealed yet, but expectations include a 6.3-inch OLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. It is said to have a peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits but may have slightly thicker bezels than the higher-end Pixel 9 models.
In terms of performance, the Pixel 9a is likely to be powered by Google’s Tensor G4 processor and will come with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage options are expected to be 128GB and 256GB, using UFS 3.1 technology. It will run on Android 15 out of the box and is projected to receive seven years of software and security updates.
Regarding the camera setup, the Pixel 9a might feature a dual-camera system that includes a 48-megapixel primary lens and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens. On the front, there could be a 13-megapixel camera for selfies.
Overall, the Pixel 9a seems to be an exciting upcoming smartphone, blending affordability with promising new features. Keep an eye out for the official announcement to learn more about its launch and specifications.
