In exciting news for snack enthusiasts, a beloved flavor is making a comeback in the UK after being off the shelves for a while. Walkers Worcestershire Sauce crisps are returning for a limited period, much to the delight of many fans who were saddened by their previous discontinuation in 2022. However, there’s a catch: these crisps will only be available in Worcester, the birthplace of Worcestershire sauce.
The crisps can be found exclusively at Charlie’s Convenience Store on Barbourne Road, located just north of the Worcester city center. Anticipate long lines as fans of Worcestershire sauce flock to the city on Tuesday, March 4th. The original sauce was created in 1837 by pharmacists John Wheeley Lea and William Henry Perrins, who mixed vinegar, anchovies, garlic, and other ingredients to come up with a flavor that has gained global popularity. Today, the factory where the sauce is produced still operates in the same location.
For years, Walkers crisps featuring this flavor were common in shops across the UK, but they gradually became less available. After fans voiced their concerns on social media, Walkers confirmed that the Worcester Sauce flavor was no longer part of their product range. This announcement caused disappointment among many loyal customers, some of whom expressed their frustration online.
Even financial expert Martin Lewis weighed in, suggesting that fans could try Seabrook’s Worcestershire Sauce crisps as an alternative. Other brands like Tayto, Marks & Spencer, and Walkers’ French Fries line also offer crisps in this popular flavor, but for many, nothing compares to the classic Walkers version.
Starting next week, fans will have a chance to reacquaint themselves with this cherished flavor by visiting Worcester. But it’s important to act quickly, as these crisps will only be available in limited quantities. Walkers has announced that the crisps will feature an even stronger Worcestershire sauce flavor with the addition of Lea & Perrins sauce, further enhancing their beloved taste.
These crisps will be sold exclusively at Charlie’s Convenience Store, located at 59 Barbourne Road, Worcester, starting at 10 AM on March 4th. This event represents another collaboration between Walkers and Heinz, following last year’s introduction of unique flavors such as ketchup and baked bean-flavored crisps. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a nostalgic snack and support your local snack shop!
