Introducing Our Green-Line Worry-Free Solution: An Industry-First Initiative with Lifetime Warranty, by Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India

OnePlus, renowned for its focus on product quality and customer satisfaction, is placing significant emphasis on the Indian market. With the unveiling of its flagship device, the OnePlus 13, and the introduction of Project Starlight, the company is actively working to enhance user experiences. We had the opportunity to speak with Robin Liu, the CEO of OnePlus India, who shared insights about the project and the brand’s future direction.
Understanding Project Starlight
Project Starlight marks a pivotal initiative for OnePlus, celebrating over a decade of success in India. The brand attributes much of its growth to the strong support from its community in the country. India is a critical market for OnePlus, and the company is committed to listening to customer feedback and addressing their concerns.
To reinforce its commitment, OnePlus has pledged to invest ₹2,000 crores annually until 2027. This investment will focus on enhancing the durability of products, improving customer service, and innovating based on extensive research and development in India. A standout feature of Project Starlight is the Green Line Worry-Free solution, which offers a lifetime warranty for display issues—specifically, the green line problem—for all OnePlus devices, from the latest models to older versions.
Why India is the Focus for Project Starlight
OnePlus chose India as the focal point for Project Starlight due to its dynamic smartphone market. Indian consumers are among the most engaged globally, frequently using their devices for gaming, streaming videos, and multitasking. Research shows that the average usage time for users in India is around 5.7 hours daily, which creates challenges in device performance, especially in a warm climate where overheating can occur.
To combat these issues, OnePlus is enhancing the heat dissipation capabilities of its smartphones, ensuring consistent performance even during demanding tasks. The OnePlus 13 series stands out as the first in India to support 5.5G connectivity, accompanied by specialized features like improved signal strength for commuters using the Delhi Metro.
Investment Plans and Focus Areas
As part of Project Starlight, OnePlus is committed to annually invest ₹2,000 crores in the Indian market. This funding will be directed toward three main areas: creating more durable devices, providing excellent customer service, and developing features tailored specifically for Indian consumers. The company aims to bolster its research facilities in Hyderabad, focusing on improving device durability and battery performance, while also addressing the widespread issue of green-line display problems.
OnePlus plans to expand its service network, reaching over 400 cities and 28 states in India in the next few years. Additionally, the company is introducing enhanced services at select flagship stores to improve customer support, including complimentary checks for battery and display health, alongside offering loaner devices.
Responding to Display Issues
The Green Line Worry-Free solution addresses an industry-wide concern regarding display issues. OnePlus is the first brand to implement such a comprehensive warranty program and believes that a worry-free customer experience should accompany their premium products. This initiative includes advancements in display technology, such as the Enhanced Edge Bonding Layer, which effectively slows moisture and oxygen penetration over time, thereby increasing the longevity of the displays.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As OnePlus moves into 2025, the company is excited about the launch of the OnePlus 13 series, which showcases its commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into its products. Innovations such as Intelligent Search and AI Summary are designed to enhance user experiences, making daily tasks more efficient. The 5.5G connectivity on these devices aims to prepare consumers for a more connected future.
Furthermore, OnePlus intends to expand its retail presence in smaller cities across India, ensuring that innovative technologies and high-quality customer support are accessible to a broader audience. Overall, 2025 is set to be a year of significant developments at OnePlus, marked by localized features and exceptional service aimed at fulfilling the needs of Indian consumers.
