The OPPO Find N5 is a new foldable smartphone that stands out as the world’s thinnest device of its kind, designed to open and close like a book. During its launch event in Singapore, OPPO highlighted that when the phone is closed, it measures only 8.93mm thick, which is about the same thickness as a pencil. It also weighs as much as a coffee cup, making it very portable. The phone features a sleek metal body that provides a comfortable grip. The back of the smartphone is made from aircraft-grade fiber, contributing to its high-end feel, and it boasts an innovative design known as the Cosmos Ring, which enhances its camera features.
The device’s frame is made from a strong 7,000-series aluminum alloy, and the cover display is protected by ultra-durable nanocrystal glass. It has a robust build that includes Armor Shield architecture. So far, the OPPO Find N5 comes in two colors: Cosmic Black, which has a matte finish with a mature look, and Misty White, which glimmers when light hits its layered back. Notably, this smartphone is also the first foldable phone to have waterproof capabilities, earning IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 ratings, so it can withstand high-pressure water jets at extreme temperatures.
When you unfold the OPPO Find N5, it reveals a large 8.12-inch screen, while the cover display measures 6.62 inches when the phone is not fully opened. OPPO claims that the larger, unfolded screen is even bigger than some popular tablets available today. The crease that appears in the middle of the display is designed to be narrow to minimize distractions while using the screen. Its dual-layer flexible display consists of nine different components, including a thin stainless steel support plate and ultra-thin glass, topped with a specialized film that offers anti-shock protection.
The smartphone delivers impressive picture quality with a screen resolution of 400 pixels per inch (ppi) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It can reach peak brightness levels exceeding 2,000 nits when showing high dynamic range (HDR) content. To enhance user comfort, the screen uses a low-flicker technology that helps reduce eye strain, especially when using the OLED display for extended periods. Powering the phone is a long-lasting 5000 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery, which is capable of providing all-day usage. Additionally, it supports both fast charging and wireless charging.
In terms of photography, the OPPO Find N5 is equipped with multiple camera systems. It includes an ultra-wide camera, a standard wide camera that offers lossless 2x zoom, and a periscope camera for taking detailed photos and videos from a distance. The periscope camera has a high-resolution 50MP sensor and a 70mm focal length. The OPPO Find N5 operates on the latest ColorOS 15, enhancing its artificial intelligence features. Thanks to its innovative Titanium Flexion hinge, the device can be folded at a 90-degree angle, allowing it to function as a compact workstation.
