Apple has launched the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus at its latest event, featuring the new A18 chip and running on iOS 18. Both models include a dual rear camera setup, similar to previous versions, along with the Action button introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro models. A new Camera Control button has also been added for easier photo and video functions.

The iPhone 16 starts at $799 (approximately Rs. 67,100) and the iPhone 16 Plus at $899 (approximately Rs. 75,500), both available in 128GB to 512GB storage options. They will be offered in black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine colours. Pre-orders begin on September 13, with sales starting on September 20.

Both phones run iOS 18 and are powered by the 3nm octa-core A18 chip, featuring a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and 16-core neural engine. They support Apple Intelligence, a feature first announced at WWDC 2024, which also extends to the iPhone 15 Pro series. The iPhone 16 comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the iPhone 16 Plus offers a larger 6.7-inch version. Both models feature Ceramic Shield protection, Dynamic Island, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The new Camera Control button allows easy zooming, photo capturing, and video recording.
Camera-wise, both models include a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera with 2x in-sensor zoom and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, supporting macro photography. A 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera is included on the front for selfies and video calls. Both models also support Spatial video and photo capture.
Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Storage options go up to 512GB, though details on RAM and battery capacity remain unknown until further teardowns.
