Kia has officially introduced the EV4, its first electric sedan and hatchback, during the 2025 Kia EV Day held in Tarragona, Spain. This model was first shown as a concept at CES the previous year, along with other exciting vehicles. Buyers will have a choice between two battery options: a standard 58.3 kWh battery and a long-range 81.4 kWh battery. The long-range version of the sedan can travel an impressive 630 kilometers (about 391.5 miles) on a single charge. In comparison, the sedan with the standard battery can go up to 430 kilometers (approximately 267 miles), while the hatchback can reach a range of 590 kilometers (around 366.6 miles). Both versions of the vehicle are powered by a 150 kW motor that allows the standard model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds, and the long-range model in 7.7 seconds. Each version also has a top speed of 170 km/h.
The EV4 is equipped with Kia’s Digital Key 2.0 system, enabling owners to control various vehicle functions remotely through an app on up to 15 devices, including compatibility with Apple Watch. This electric vehicle is also packed with advanced features like Highway Driving Assist, which includes Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, and Remote Parking Assist Entry. There’s an additional safety feature known as Driving Package F+, which utilizes cameras and radars to identify potential dangers and assist drivers in staying safe on the road.
Production of the EV4 sedan will take place in Korea, with the model expected to be available to customers beginning in March. The five-door hatchback version will be manufactured in Slovakia, aimed at the European market later in the year. Kia has not yet announced a specific timeline for when the EV4 will be produced for North America but has assured customers that it plans to release it in the United States.
Alongside the launch of the EV4, Kia also presented the Concept EV2 at the same event. The EV2 is designed to be compact and ideal for city driving, featuring an adaptable interior with folding rear seats for added flexibility. Kia aims to sell the EV2 in Europe and other regions, expecting to launch it in 2026.
This new series of electric vehicles marks an exciting step for Kia as they expand their electric lineup and cater to the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation. With impressive ranges, powerful performance, and a suite of advanced technologies, the EV4 and Concept EV2 look to pave the way for a greener future in the automotive industry.
