Lenovo is gearing up to unveil its next generation of Legion Go gaming handhelds at CES 2025. An event titled “Lenovo Legion x AMD: The Future of Gaming Handhelds” hints at exciting developments in the portable gaming space.
The event invitation confirms the presence of Steam Deck co-designer Pierre-Loup Griffais, suggesting that Lenovo might launch a SteamOS variant of its upcoming Legion Go S handheld. This aligns with recent leaks showcasing a dedicated Steam button on the device.
Leaked renders reveal two versions of the Legion Go S: a white Windows-based model and a black variant with a Steam button. The Legion Go S appears to be a smaller, more compact version of the original Legion Go, featuring a rounded design and non-detachable controllers.
Lenovo is also expected to announce a refreshed version of the larger Legion Go, retaining its detachable controllers and featuring an OLED screen. Some of these new handhelds may utilize the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip.
This move follows Valve’s announcement earlier this year to expand SteamOS support to third-party Windows-based handhelds like the Asus ROG Ally. SteamOS provides a user-friendly console-like interface optimized for gaming.
With the potential for both Windows and SteamOS options, Lenovo’s upcoming Legion Go handhelds could offer gamers greater choice and flexibility in their portable gaming experience.
