Samsung is preparing to launch updates for its popular A series of mid-range smartphones. The Galaxy A56, A36, and A26 are expected to be announced in the coming days, just before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which begins on Monday.
A recent big leak has provided a lot of details about these three models, revealing that they share several features, particularly in their display and design. The leaked images show that all three smartphones will feature a new look for the rear camera system. Instead of separate camera bumps like previous models, the cameras will be housed within an oval-shaped module. This design change seems to be reserved for the A series since Samsung’s flagship phones will keep the traditional separate camera bumps.
All three phones will come with a 6.7-inch display that has a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. The Galaxy A56 and A36 will boast a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, making them quite bright and easy to see in sunlight. Different versions of Gorilla Glass are used to protect the screens: the A56 will have Gorilla Glass Victus, the A36 will use Gorilla Glass 7+, while the specific glass type for the A26 has not been mentioned yet.
In terms of unlocking methods, the A56 and A36 will be equipped with in-display fingerprint sensors. On the other hand, the A26 will have a capacitive fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, which some users might actually prefer due to its reliability.
When it comes to camera capabilities, there’s a noticeable difference across the phones. They all will have a 50 MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). The A56 will be equipped with a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, while the A36 and A26 will feature an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. Additionally, the macro cameras differ too: the A56 and A36 have 5 MP macro cameras, whereas the A26 will have a 2 MP version. For selfies, the A56 and A36 are expected to have a 12 MP front camera, while the A26 will offer a 13 MP selfie camera. All selfie cameras will support 4K video recording at 30 frames per second and come with autofocus.
Interestingly, the A36 and A26 models still include a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a feature increasingly absent in modern smartphones. The A56, however, will be the only model with a metal frame, adding a touch of premium feel. The battery capacity is the same across all three devices, at 5,000 mAh. The A56 and A36 will support faster 45W wired charging, while the A26 will have a maximum of 25W charging speed. They are all expected to come with Android 15 and Samsung’s One UI 7 right out of the box.
The release of these smartphones is anticipated for early March, and they are expected to be priced similarly to their predecessors. In Europe, this means the A26 could start at around €299, the A36 at €379, and the A56 at €479.
