New CAD Images of iPhone 17 Series Align with Redesign Speculations

Apple is getting ready to reveal its latest iPhone 17 series, featuring some exciting changes, particularly in the camera design for certain models. Recent images that have surfaced show that these new designs align with earlier rumors, and if you’re not a fan of an iPhone with a camera bar, you might want to brace yourself.
Apple insider Sonny Dickson recently shared some of the new images online, highlighting various models in the upcoming series. One of the most talked-about models is the iPhone 17 Air. This device is reportedly thinner and lighter than previous models and is set to take the place of the Plus version. In these images, you can see that this model includes a long horizontal camera module positioned along the top of the back of the phone.
Due to its slim profile, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to come with just a single-lens rear camera. This means it won’t be able to take special spatial videos or photos unless Apple has a unique way to handle such features. It’s rumored that this model will use a 48-megapixel wide camera, similar to what’s in the iPhone 16.
Some versions of the iPhone 17 will apparently have a smoother look where the camera bump meets the back of the device. This new design utilizes a glass-and-metal blend during manufacturing to achieve a more polished appearance.
Another significant change can be seen in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. These high-end versions are set to ditch the traditional square camera bump in favor of a broader aluminum camera bar that stretches across the width of the phone. The familiar triangular triple-lens camera setup will still be located on the left side, but the flash, LiDAR sensor, and rear microphone are being moved over to the right side of this new camera bar, positioned vertically. It’s unclear whether this change is purely for looks or if it has practical benefits as well.
Lastly, the base model of the iPhone 17 appears to stick with the standard dual-camera design that many users are used to. This means it won’t include the new camera bar, offering a more familiar look for those who prefer the traditional design.
Various sources have started to confirm these camera layout changes in the iPhone 17 lineup. We can expect to see these new models launch around mid-September, which is the usual timeframe for Apple’s new phone releases, making it less likely that these rumors will be inaccurate.
