New ‘Connected Cameras’ Feature Available for Google Pixel 9 Users

Essential Information
- The Connected Camera feature is being introduced for Google Pixel 9 devices.
- This feature enables users to utilize a second camera, such as a GoPro or another Pixel phone, to remotely capture live streams and record videos from various angles.
- You can easily livestream through platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, and TikTok.
Google Pixel 9 users now have an exciting new tool at their disposal. The tech giant has begun rolling out the Connected Camera feature, which allows users to capture pictures and videos from unique viewpoints. This feature was first noticed in the latest March update, as reported by 9to5Google.
Connected Cameras is designed to enhance the way Pixel 9 owners engage with video creation. By connecting a camera situated some distance away—like a GoPro or another Pixel device—users can easily live-stream events or capture videos. It supports live streaming on popular social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, all while allowing access to in-app filters to enhance the video quality.
This functionality is particularly advantageous for anyone who wants to showcase specific skills or demonstrate products while participating in a live video. The option is also handy for outdoor activities where a GoPro might be used, enabling users to display their adventurous spirit while keeping their phones safely tucked away.
To activate the Connected Cameras feature, users must navigate to the Pixel phone’s settings: select Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Connected Cameras. This feature may not be switched on by default, so users need to toggle the option manually.
After enabling the feature, a “Camera Picker” icon will appear when using supported applications. This icon allows users to add, remove, or switch between connected cameras easily. If the Camera Picker is not in use, it minimizes to avoid cluttering the screen. Users can also deactivate the icon by pressing and holding it before dragging it to the “X” symbol at the bottom of the screen, according to Google’s support page.
Currently, the Connected Cameras feature is exclusive to the Pixel 9 series. It supports additional camera options if they are Pixel 6 models or newer, as well as GoPro models 10 and up—provided that these devices are running the updated software.
It’s important to mention that users can connect only one additional remote camera at a time. To connect a new camera, the already connected device must be disconnected first, and both devices should be logged into the same Google account for the feature to work effectively.
