New Pixel 9a Leak Reveals Inexpensive Design Features

Recently, there have been several leaks about the upcoming Pixel 9a smartphone, including a hands-on video that gives us a better look at its design. However, one downside is that the Pixel 9a appears to have a less premium look compared to its previous models.
Currently, there is no official announcement from Google regarding the launch date for the Pixel 9a. Based on earlier leaks and rumors, it seems that this new phone will follow a similar approach to previous models by offering high-end features at a more affordable price. This includes powerful hardware like the Tensor G4 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and a 120Hz OLED display, along with the software that has made Pixel phones well-liked.
To keep the price lower, some compromises have likely been made in terms of materials used for the phone’s construction. Recent video leaks, which have since been taken down but are still available on social media, show that the design changes affect various parts of the phone’s hardware.
While we couldn’t see how the display looks in the recent video, the back of the Obsidian model seems to be made of cheaper materials compared to the previous 7a and 8a models, which still had a premium appearance despite using some lower-cost elements.
Interestingly, another post by Craig, who shared the initial leak, pointed out that even though the Pixel 9a might seem less expensive looking, it has a design reminiscent of old Nokia Lumia phones. This design, made with plastic materials, feels comfortable to hold.
One noticeable change is the design of the camera bar. The new setup, featuring distinct plastic rings, looks quite different from the older camera designs seen in the past A-series models. The aesthetic appears to have a more modern touch with a matte finish, aligning better with the current generation of phones.
As for opinions about the design, it might be too early to make a solid judgment based only on leaked images. Some people, including myself, might prefer to wait until we can physically test the phone ourselves. The design doesn’t look great so far, but we should find out soon, as the Pixel 9a is rumored to be launched by the end of March.
Overall, while the Pixel 9a appears to have made some compromises in its design and materials to be more budget-friendly, it still incorporates many of the features that have made previous Pixel models popular. With only a few weeks left until the anticipated launch, it is an exciting time for fans of the brand. The Pixel 9a may turn out to be a great choice for those looking for powerful features in a more affordable package.
