OnePlus Open 2: A 2025 Arrival with Flagship Power and Enhanced Features

OnePlus appears poised to make a splash in the foldable phone arena once again with the anticipated launch of the OnePlus Open 2 in 2025. This successor to the company’s first foldable, the OnePlus Open, is rumored to bring significant upgrades and refinements, building on the foundation established by its predecessor.

While OnePlus has remained silent on the official launch date, industry insider Sanju Chaudhary suggests a release sometime in the second half of 2025. Interestingly, the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to be a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N5, which is slated to debut in China in early 2025. This strategy aligns with OnePlus’s previous approach to foldable phones, leveraging its close relationship with Oppo to deliver competitive devices to the global market.

One of the most exciting rumors surrounding the OnePlus Open 2 is the inclusion of Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This powerful processor, expected to power the Oppo Find N5 as well, would position the OnePlus Open 2 as a performance powerhouse in the foldable phone segment. However, given Qualcomm’s typical release cycle, with new Snapdragon chips launching around October, the Snapdragon 8 Elite might only hold the “flagship” title for a few months after the Open 2’s anticipated launch.

Beyond the processor, leaks from reputable tipster Digital Chat Station hint at other noteworthy enhancements. The OnePlus Open 2 is said to feature a larger display, providing more screen real estate for immersive experiences. A significant battery upgrade is also on the cards, with a rumored capacity of 5,700mAh, a substantial increase from the 4,800mAh battery in the first-generation model.

Furthermore, OnePlus is reportedly developing a customized USB port for the Open 2, potentially offering faster charging speeds or enhanced data transfer capabilities. The camera system is also expected to receive an upgrade, with Hasselblad tuning likely to enhance image quality and offer a unique photographic experience.

While these details remain speculative until official confirmation from OnePlus, the rumored specifications paint a picture of a highly refined and powerful foldable phone. With a potential launch in the latter half of 2025, the OnePlus Open 2 is shaping up to be a strong contender in the evolving foldable phone market. As we move closer to its anticipated release, further details and official announcements from OnePlus are eagerly awaited.
