Photoshop Coming to iPhone First, Android Users to Wait

Editing photos on your smartphone has often been disappointing. Many photo editing apps provide basic features, which can be enough for casual users, but serious photographers have longed for a robust editing experience similar to what you find on a desktop. For a long time, mobile users have wished for a genuine Photoshop experience rather than just a simplified app that carries the Photoshop name. Now, that wish is finally coming true. Adobe has revealed that Photoshop is coming to the iPhone.
Adobe has offered versions of Photoshop on mobile devices for some time. However, these versions have typically felt like lesser alternatives to the full desktop software. Although they were labeled Photoshop, they didn’t offer the same range of tools and functionalities. Five years ago, Adobe took a significant step by releasing a more advanced version for the iPad, but one crucial thing was still missing—Photoshop for the iPhone.
Now, Adobe has confirmed that Photoshop will indeed be available on the iPhone. However, this new version won’t be exactly the same as the desktop or the iPad version. The smaller screen size of the iPhone means that some features may be limited, but the iPhone app will support Adobe’s PSD file format. This means that you can start editing a file on your computer and then transfer it to your iPhone for further editing without any hassle. Additionally, this new mobile app will include some of Adobe’s Firefly generative AI tools, which will enhance your editing capabilities.
It’s important to note that while you can download Photoshop for iPhone for free, accessing all its features requires a subscription. If you’re mostly going to use it on your phone, Adobe has introduced a new Photoshop Mobile & Web plan. This plan is priced at $7.99 per month or $69.99 per year, making it a more affordable option compared to Adobe’s standard subscription plans.
For those using Android devices, there’s good news as well. Adobe has mentioned that the Photoshop app will be available for Android users “soon.” Android users can sign up on Adobe’s website to receive alerts when the beta version is ready for download. For years, mobile editing options have been quite limited, but with Photoshop coming to both the iPhone and, eventually, Android, high-quality editing tools are just around the corner. The era of mobile Photoshop has finally started, providing users with the tools they need to elevate their photo editing game.
