Tata Motors Sales Report for February 2025
In February 2025, Tata Motors reported total sales of 79,344 units. This is a noticeable decrease from the 86,406 units sold during the same month last year. The decline in sales reflects challenges the company is currently facing in both passenger and commercial vehicle markets.
Passenger Vehicle Sales Performance
Tata Motors saw a drop in passenger vehicle (PV) sales, which includes both traditional vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs). In total, 46,811 units were sold. This represents a 9% decrease compared to the previous year, when the sales figure was 51,321 units.
Breakdown of Domestic and International Sales
In the domestic market, Tata Motors sold 46,435 units. Meanwhile, their international business contributed 376 units to the overall total. While the overall sales dropped, international passenger vehicle sales saw a remarkable rise, showcasing a 596% increase year-on-year.
Electric Vehicle Sales
The electric vehicle sector, however, experienced a small decline. Combined domestic and international EV sales totaled 5,343 units in February 2025. This is down from 6,923 units in February 2024, marking a 23% year-on-year volume drop. The increase in competition from new players in the market could be a factor contributing to this decline.
Upcoming Models and Innovations
In light of these changes, Tata Motors is preparing several exciting new introductions. The Harrier EV is expected to debut soon in India, along with the Sierra ICE and EV models, both planned for launch later this year. Looking ahead, Tata plans to release the production version of the Avinya in 2026.
Harrier EV Features
The Harrier EV will compete in the expanding midsize electric SUV segment against rivals such as the Mahindra XEV 9e, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, and the Hyundai Creta Electric. Anticipation for the Harrier EV is high, especially since Tata has announced it will offer a range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge.
Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive System
The upcoming Harrier EV will be equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. This means it will have motors on both front and rear axles, generating an impressive peak torque of 500 Nm. It will be powered by a sizable 75 kWh battery pack, significantly enhancing its performance and efficiency.
Looking Ahead
Tata Motors is aware of the growing competition in the electric vehicle market and is working to innovate and improve its offerings. With exciting upcoming models set to be released this year and next, Tata aims to regain market momentum and appeal to consumers seeking advanced and eco-friendly vehicles.
As the company rolls out its next-generation electric vehicles, the focus remains not just on maintaining competitive pricing, but also on providing technology-rich features that meet consumer expectations.
With these developments, Tata Motors is poised to navigate the evolving automotive landscape, offering products that cater to a variety of customer needs—from efficiency to performance in both traditional and electric vehicles.
Tata’s latest generation of vehicles, including the Harrier EV and others, may play a crucial role as the company adapts to changing market dynamics and consumer preferences.
