Tecno Spark Slim aims to be the thinnest smartphone in the world.

In 2025, the smartphone market is gearing up for a new trend focused on slimmer designs, and Tecno is making a bold statement with its latest model, the “Spark Slim.” If launched, this phone could claim the title of the “world’s thinnest smartphone,” at least temporarily.
The Tecno Spark Slim is set to debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next week. Before the event, Tecno has already shared some impressive details about this ultra-thin device. It boasts an incredibly slim profile of just 5.75mm. To put this into perspective, this makes it more than 33% thinner than the Galaxy S25 Ultra and nearly 2mm thinner than the iPhone 16.
However, it remains uncertain how long this record will last. According to reports, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge will measure about 5.84mm thick, which means it won’t outdo the Spark Slim. On the other hand, Apple might introduce a slimmer option with its iPhone 17 “Air,” rumored to be as thin as 5.5mm at its lowest point.
While achieving a thin design is impressive, Tecno is not stopping at just looks. The Spark Slim will also feature a robust 5,200 mAh battery, which is greater than the 5,000 mAh found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, despite the Spark Slim being significantly thinner. This achievement is likely due to the use of advanced silicone-carbon battery technology, a method already employed by brands like OnePlus and Oppo, allowing them to fit larger batteries into standard-sized smartphones.
Despite the excitement surrounding the Tecno Spark Slim, it’s important to note that it is currently just a concept. The company will display the device at MWC, but there are no solid plans in place for its release yet.
In a statement, Tecno highlighted its ambitions, saying, “TECNO is also showcasing a range of boundary-pushing concept devices, advanced technologies and revolutionary materials. This includes the SPARK Slim ultra-thin concept smartphone, a breakthrough concept creating the industry’s slimmest device with a 5000mAh+ battery. This technology ensures sleekness without compromising on powerful performance and is set to lead the way in the next wave of ultra-thin smartphone design.”
Tecno has a history of showcasing concept devices, including a rollable phone they presented last year, and many of these concepts have yet to become available to consumers. Whether the Spark Slim will be released remains to be seen, but it certainly piques interest for its innovative approach to smartphone design. The tech world will be watching closely to see if Tecno can bring this ultra-thin phone to market.
