The Clicks Keyboard for my Motorola Razr Transforms My Phone Experience

My Journey with Android and BlackBerry Devices
The Start of My Android Experience
As a long-time Android enthusiast, my journey didn’t start with the latest smartphone. Instead, it began with a work-provided BlackBerry that felt cheap but was surprisingly effective. When I switched jobs and was no longer able to carry my BlackBerry, I decided to invest in one myself. At that time, I was taken by its sleek design and innovative features.
When Android first hit the market, I couldn’t resist the allure of the T-Mobile G1, a pioneering device that started the Android revolution. For a while, I carried both my beloved BlackBerry Curve and the T-Mobile G1. Although the BlackBerry wasn’t the fastest or equipped with flashy games, it excelled in communication. The physical keyboard was a game-changer, making typing a breeze.
Embracing Android
As Android matured, I realized it had become a worthy successor to the Blackberry experience. I briefly experimented with BlackBerry’s offerings, like the BlackBerry Priv and KEY2, both of which were impressive in their own rights. However, I eventually transitioned fully to Android to explore new possibilities. Despite this shift, I still hold a fondness for the small-screen experience and the tactile feel of a physical keyboard.
Excitement for the Clicks Keyboard
Recently, my interest was piqued by the new Clicks Keyboard designed for Android devices. This new accessory, tailored for smartphones like the Motorola Razr, speaks directly to my nostalgia for that old-school typing experience. My excitement for this product doesn’t stem from any sponsorship or business relationship; rather, it comes from my genuine love for what Clicks offers.
I even have personal connections with the founders, Michael Fisher (Mr. Mobile) and Kevin Michaluk (CrackBerry Kevin), but my enthusiasm for the Clicks Keyboard is purely based on how much I think it could enhance my smartphone use. Waiting until May for its release feels torturous.
Discovering Clicks Keyboard Cases
Before learning about the Clicks Keyboard, I had never been a big fan of smartphone accessories. Living in the tech world, you’d think I’d be keen on the latest gadgets. However, I typically use my phones without a case or screen protector, and I often chuckled at the idea of getting excited over phone cases.
Now, though, Clicks has raised the stakes by introducing keyboard cases not just for iPhones, but for Android models, including popular ones like the Galaxy S25, Pixel 9, and the 2024 Razr Plus. This was music to my ears as I tried to imagine how a physical keyboard would change my experience with a smartphone.
The Love-Hate Relationship with Physical Keyboards
Physical keyboards can spark strong opinions among Android users. You either love them or consider them outdated. Personally, I fall into the “love them” category. This preference stems from how I use my phone for communication. It feels like the most powerful tool for staying in touch with friends and family across the globe.
While I recognize that virtual keyboards like Gboard can do nearly everything a physical keyboard can do, the experience is different. The tactile sensation you get from pressing actual keys is something that haptic feedback can’t replicate.
The Potential of the Clicks Keyboard
A Clicks keyboard case on my Motorola Razr could also encourage me to use the front screen more. Currently, I use it mainly for checking the time or the weather. A physical keyboard could open up various applications and features that my fingers struggle to navigate on such a small screen. It might transform my Razr into a modern-day equivalent of my old BlackBerry Curve, with advanced software and features.
Plus, it’s exciting to think that if I need a larger display, I can flip open my Razr to access the full experience. Sometimes, I even play games on my phone, so having a physical keyboard could enhance that engagement as well.
Waiting for My Keyboard
While many of the two billion Android users may not share my enthusiasm for the Clicks Keyboard, I genuinely hope the company thrives and expands its offerings. I’m particularly keen for them to consider devices like the Pixel 8a, as my wife also has fond memories of BlackBerry and enjoys her small, green Pixel.
For now, all I can do is wait for my order to arrive. I hope it meets my high expectations and brings me closer to the smartphone experience I desire. The excitement of bridging the gap between nostalgia and modern technology is something I can hardly contain.
