ToggleMy Recent Adventure: A Drive with Unexpected Hiccups
A Summary of the Past Few Months
Over the past three months, my car has seen it all: short trips, a prolonged period where it sat unused, a few runs to the airport, and even a delightful outing to a nearby dam. Oh, and let’s not forget about the cracked tail light that has now become part of my growing to-do list. In total, it took me an impressive 84 days to use up a full tank of diesel, but I still managed to achieve a commendable fuel efficiency of 16 kilometers per liter over the 775 kilometers I traveled.
An Unexpected Collision
During one of my family visits near HSR Layout, things took an unexpected turn. While reversing out of a parking space, I heard a loud thud. Perplexed, I checked through my reverse camera and my side mirrors, but I still couldn’t see what had happened. Out of nowhere, a man on a Honda Activa scooter zoomed up from the wrong side, near the footpath, and collided with my car.
The damage was minimal on my end; just a cracked tail light from where his brake lever made contact. However, his scooter suffered a significant dent on the engine cover. Realizing his error, he quietly made off, leaving me to contemplate fixing my tail light soon.
A Return to Exploring
After battling a long illness that kept us homebound, my partner and I decided it was time to venture out once more. On a breezy Saturday afternoon, we took to the STRR and hit the Hyderabad highway. We faced a delightful dilemma between visiting Sabanahalli Lake or Dandiganahalli Dam. Ultimately, the dam won out, and we were ready for some adventure!
A Stop for Snacks
Before heading to the dam, we made a quick stop at a new bakery for some treats. Mayura Bakery is famous for its egg puffs, and we couldn’t resist indulging in their delicious offerings. With a cup of chai and a few pastries packed up, we set off to the dam, excited for the day ahead.
The Dam Experience
It had been over four years since my last trip to Dandiganahalli Dam, and I was eager to see how things had changed. The roads leading there were mostly in good condition, making the drive enjoyable. Upon our arrival, we noticed that the dam is now surrounded by a metal fence—a change that, while inconvenient, didn’t spoil our experience. We could still walk close to the water’s edge.
As we walked around, we saw families enjoying picnics, one group preparing to camp for the night, and even some kids splashing in the water. It was heartwarming to see the joy on everyone’s faces. We captured beautiful sunset views, sharing our bakery treats with a friendly dog that approached us.
Enjoying the Environment
Several families had brought along foldable tables and chairs, creating a cozy spot to relax by the water. It got me thinking about getting a set for our own little outings. My partner and I lounged comfortably in the back of our car, taking in the serene surroundings and enjoying the peace of nature.
A Much-Needed Clean-Up
Despite the wonderful day spent outdoors, my car was in dire need of a wash. It had probably been four to five months since its last cleaning, but my trusty cleaners had been doing the best they could. It’s interesting how in the rush of daily life, even simple tasks like cleaning can fall by the wayside.
Returning Home
Our journey didn’t end at the dam. We stopped for dinner at a place called Nahusa, then hopped back onto the STRR. Even though the road toward the airport was congested, we managed to reach home by 10 PM.
Conclusion
It’s amazing how unpredictable life can be. From a misadventure with a scooter to enjoying quality time by the dam, these experiences remind me to take things as they come. Every moment, whether a small hiccup or a joyful outing, contributes to life’s rich tapestry. My tail light may need repair soon, but my spirit to explore and enjoy life remains undeterred. Those unexpected moments truly make for the best stories.
