Voice-Only Plans from Jio, Airtel, and Vi: Pricing, Benefits, Data Add-Ons, and More

Recently, Indian telecom companies introduced prepaid plans that focus solely on voice calling. These plans are designed for people who mainly need calling services without much emphasis on data or other features. The initiative came after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) directed service providers to create plans with longer validity to keep SIM cards active, particularly for secondary numbers. While these plans primarily offer voice calls and SMS benefits, users have the option to purchase additional data packs based on their needs. Here’s a summary of the new voice-only plans available from Jio, Airtel, and Vi.
For Jio, there are two main plans. The first is the Rs 448 plan, which allows unlimited voice calls and provides 1,000 SMS over a validity period of 84 days. Additionally, users get access to Jio’s apps like JioTV and JioCloud. The second plan is priced at Rs 1,748, offering unlimited calls and 3,600 SMS with a much longer validity of 336 days. This plan also includes benefits from Jio’s apps.
Airtel’s offerings include a plan priced at Rs 469. This plan features unlimited voice calls and 900 SMS with a validity of 84 days. Besides these calling and texting benefits, customers can enjoy free Hellotunes and a subscription to Apollo 24/7 Circle for three months. Airtel’s higher-tier plan costs Rs 1,849, which provides unlimited calls and a whopping 3,600 SMS for a full year, alongside the same additional services like free Hellotunes.
Vi also provides appealing options with its voice-only plans. The Rs 470 plan gives users unlimited calls and 900 SMS for 84 days. Similarly, Vi has a Rs 1,849 plan that offers unlimited voice calls along with 3,600 SMS for a validity of 365 days.
For those who need data services alongside these voice-only plans, both Jio, Airtel, and Vi offer various add-on data packs. For Jio, options include small data packs starting from Rs 11 for unlimited data (but only for the first 10 GB at high speed for one hour), to larger options like Rs 359 for 50GB valid for 30 days. Airtel also has a range of data packs starting from Rs 11 for limited one-hour unlimited use to larger quantities like Rs 361 for 50GB with 30 days validity. Vi similarly offers various data add-ons, with plans starting from Rs 22 for 1GB for one day, up to Rs 361 for 50GB valid for 30 days.
If you’re looking for the most economical way to keep your SIM active, Jio’s Rs 1,748 plan is the best choice. With a validity of 336 days, it’s not only affordable but also provides substantial benefits for users who primarily require voice calling without regularly needing data.
These voice-only plans are an excellent choice for those who have occasional needs for data but mainly focus on calling. They provide flexibility while ensuring users can stay connected without paying for unnecessary services.
