Volkswagen ID Every1 Concept: A Look at Their Affordable Electric Vehicle for Europe
Volkswagen has recently introduced a new concept car called the ID Every1. This vehicle aims to be the most budget-friendly electric vehicle (EV) offered by the brand, set to launch in 2027. The ID Every1 is designed with the European market in mind, focusing on making electric mobility accessible to a wider audience.
Affordable Urban Electric Vehicle
The ID Every1 is intended to be the next evolution of the compact Volkswagen Up and will serve as the entry-level model in Volkswagen’s growing ID electric vehicle lineup. Its small size and urban-friendly design make it an ideal choice for European drivers looking for an affordable electric option.
Exterior Design
The Volkswagen ID Every1’s design stays true to what the company plans for the final version, with only minor changes expected. Its compact stance and short length are reminiscent of the Up, while the general styling draws from both classic and modern Volkswagen designs.
At the front, the ID Every1 features large, rounded LED headlights linked by a sleek black panel, giving it a friendly appearance. Vertical LED daytime running lights on the bumper enhance its contemporary look. The wraparound windscreen, aided by blacked-out A-pillars, adds to the vehicle’s cohesive design.
On the sides, the body maintains a simple and neat profile, with subtle curves around the wheel arches. Volkswagen aims for a “timeless” look with this restrained approach. It rides on 19-inch wheels, with flush door handles that contribute to its minimalist style. A subtle tribute to the first-generation Golf is visible in the design of the C-pillar.
At the rear, the design mirrors the front with similarly shaped tail lamps and a straightforward bumper. A third brake light is neatly integrated into the roof spoiler.
In terms of size, the ID Every1 measures 3,880mm long, making it slightly shorter than the previously unveiled ID 2all concept, which is 4,050mm long. Though both share design elements up to the front pillars, the ID Every1 has a shorter wheelbase and a more compact battery setup.
Interior Focused on Functionality
The interior of the ID Every1 focuses on simplicity and ease of use, a common trend in modern electric vehicles. A large infotainment touchscreen is situated at the center of the dashboard, along with a row of physical buttons for essential features such as climate control and audio volume, appealing to drivers who prefer tactile controls over touchscreen-only interfaces.
The steering wheel features a unique two-spoke design, and the air vents draw inspiration from the car’s headlights. A unique feature of the center console is that it can slide on rails, allowing reconfiguration between the front and back seats as needed.
The ID Every1 is designed to seat four people and maximizes space within its compact dimensions. It includes a removable Bluetooth speaker between the front seats, and the front passenger seat can accommodate accessories, such as a tablet holder or storage shelf.
New Software System in Collaboration with Rivian
One of the exciting features of the ID Every1 is its new software platform developed in collaboration with Rivian, an American electric vehicle startup. This software system is designed to be flexible, enabling it to be customized for both entry-level vehicles like the ID Every1 and more advanced models in the lineup.
This system includes support for over-the-air updates, a popular trend in the automotive industry. This means owners can unlock new features after buying the car, further enhancing its value.
Powertrain and Performance Details
The production version of the ID Every1 will be built on a modified version of Volkswagen’s MEB Entry platform, which is suited for smaller, front-wheel-drive electric vehicles. While detailed specifications are not yet available, Volkswagen has shared that the car will use a new electric motor generating 95 horsepower, allowing it to reach a top speed of around 130 km/h.
Volkswagen hasn’t revealed the precise battery specifications but has indicated that the ID Every1 will have a minimum range of 250 km on a full charge, making it well-suited for urban and suburban commuting.
Launch Plans and Future Prospects
Volkswagen plans to launch the ID Every1 in European markets in 2027, as part of a larger initiative to release small, city-focused electric vehicles. Following the ID Every1, Volkswagen is expected to introduce the ID 2 X, a compact electric crossover, later this year, likely during the Munich Motor Show in September.
