Apple has released its annual year-end charts showcasing the most popular apps and games downloaded from the App Store in India and other countries. WhatsApp, the Meta-owned messaging platform, secured the top spot as the most downloaded free iPhone app in India for 2024.
Following WhatsApp in the free app category were Instagram, YouTube, and Google Pay. In the paid app category, Forest: Focus for Productivity, an app designed to help users minimize distractions and enhance focus, claimed the top spot. Other popular paid apps included Money Manager, DSLR Camera, Shadowrocket, and iTablaPro.
In the gaming category, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) emerged as the most downloaded free game on iPhones. Minecraft secured the top position among paid games, dethroning last year’s winner, Hitman Sniper. Ludo King and Subway Surfers continued their popularity, rounding out the top three free iPhone games.
Apple also highlighted the top games on its Apple Arcade subscription service. Getting Over It+ was the most downloaded Apple Arcade game of the year, followed by NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition, Snake.io+, Asphalt 8: Airborne+, and Angry Birds Reloaded.
