Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Introduce Wi-Fi Connectivity, Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025) Enhances Performance

At the recent Xiaomi event, the standout announcement was the launch of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone, but the company also revealed some exciting new products like the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro and a powerful 16-inch laptop that are worth mentioning.
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro are impressive wireless earbuds that typically connect using Bluetooth. They can transfer audio at speeds of up to 2.1Mbps, which allows for high-quality audio playback at 48kHz/24-bit resolution. However, when they are paired with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, they can switch to using Wi-Fi, significantly increasing the audio bitrate to 4.2Mbps. This upgrade enhances the audio quality to 96kHz/24-bit lossless sound.
One notable feature powered by Wi-Fi is Qualcomm’s XPAN technology, which allows these earbuds to have a larger range throughout your home while using less battery power. XPAN supports high-quality audio, low-latency transmission, and even an immersive audio experience that can track your head movements. It’s important to note that only the Phantom Black version of the earbuds supports the Wi-Fi feature; the other colors can only connect via Bluetooth.
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro come equipped with dual digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and dual amplifiers, driving two audio drivers. They have a wide frequency range from 15Hz to 50kHz, with sound quality optimized by Harman’s experts for better clarity in mid and high frequencies. The earbuds include three microphones and offer Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that can reduce noise levels by up to 55dB. Notably, they can effectively block out high wind noise, making them suitable for outdoor use.
In terms of battery life, the earbuds can last up to 8 hours with Bluetooth and up to 10 hours when using Wi-Fi. With the charging case, the total listening time extends up to 40 hours, and they support both wired and wireless charging. The buds are rated IP54 for water and dust resistance, and they allow audio sharing, enabling two pairs of buds to connect to a single device. Additionally, the touch and pressure-sensitive stems enable users to control volume easily by sliding a finger or squeezing the stems, with customizable actions.
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro are currently available for purchase in China, priced at CNY 1,300 (approximately $180) for the Bluetooth version, while the Wi-Fi-enabled version costs CNY 1,500 (around $205).
Moving on to the Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025), Xiaomi has introduced an updated version of their professional laptop. Unlike the standard models which have Core i5 processors, this Pro variant is powered by the second-generation Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, which offers impressive AI performance (96 TOPS) and comes with Intel Arc graphics. There is also a Core Ultra 5 225H option available.
Weighing 1.88kg and measuring just 15.9mm thick, the laptop includes a substantial 99Wh battery, the largest that can be taken on a plane. The battery life can last up to 30 hours on a single charge, and it is charged using a 140W GaN adapter.
The Redmi Book Pro features a stunning 16-inch display with a refresh rate of 165Hz and a resolution of 3072 x 1920 pixels. It covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space and is DisplayHDR 400 certified, reaching peak brightness levels of 500 nits. It also supports both Dolby Vision and Atmos.
The Intel chip is built on TSMC’s N3B process, with the Ultra 7 model incorporating 16 CPU cores that can reach speeds up to 5.1GHz and 8 Xe graphics cores. This configuration provides a 21.6% performance improvement compared to the previous year’s version, while the Ultra 5 variant offers a 29.5% boost. Xiaomi designed the cooling system with double fans and three heat pipes to manage up to 80W of power efficiently.
The Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025) is available through Xiaomi’s online store in China. The Ultra 5 model with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is priced at CNY 6,500 (around $895), while the Ultra 7 version costs CNY 7,500 (approximately $1,030).
