Recently, Google has made exciting updates to its Gemini app, allowing free users to create images of people using a new feature called Imagen 3. This change follows the introduction of document upload and analysis capabilities just last week.
Back in August, Google initially released this image generation feature to Gemini Advanced subscribers. This early access version was gradually made available to a wider audience and has now become more common among users.
At the beginning of this month, Google expanded the image generation feature to various applications in its suite, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. It also integrated this capability into tools like “Help me create” for Docs, “Help me visualize” for Slides, and “Help me create” for video content.
Users have recently noticed that free Gemini app accounts are starting to access the image generation of people feature. Previously, free users would receive a message indicating that this feature was only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers. However, it seems that Google is now rolling out this ability to more users.
Despite this positive feedback regarding the images of people, the rollout is still a work in progress. The feature has only been observed in some free accounts, indicating that not everyone currently has access.
Additionally, with the stable launch of Gemini 2.0 Flash earlier this month, the app introduced an upgraded version of Imagen 3. This new version, which is highly regarded on the Image Generation Leaderboard, offers enhanced details and textures in images, as well as a better ability to follow user instructions accurately.
Overall, these updates reflect Google’s push to improve its Gemini application and make powerful image generation tools accessible to a broader range of users, enhancing creativity and productivity. As more features continue to roll out, it will be interesting to see how users adapt and utilize these new capabilities in their everyday tasks.
