Xiaomi 15 Ultra Unveiled with Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset and Leica Quad-Cameras

Xiaomi has announced the launch of its latest flagship smartphone for 2025, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The unveiling took place during an event in China. This model stands out as the company’s first smartphone equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It comes with a hefty 16GB of RAM and features an OLED LTPO display. An exciting addition is its Tiantong satellite communication capability, making it the first smartphone that can directly receive data from satellites.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is available in several color options, including classic black, silver, green, and white. The starting price for this new device is ¥6499, which is roughly around ₹78,050 in India. Although it’s already launched in China, Xiaomi plans to introduce it to the Indian market in March.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the specifications of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The smartphone features a 6.73-inch 2K M8 12-bit OLED LTPO screen. This display has a 20:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3100 x 1440 pixels, offering a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, with a peak brightness of up to 3200 nits. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for enhanced image quality. To protect the screen, Xiaomi has used Ceramic Glass 2.0, which offers better durability and includes features like 1920Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming for a superior viewing experience.
At the core of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the Octa-Core Snapdragon 8 Elite 3nm processor, paired with an Adreno 830 GPU. Users have the option to choose between 12GB and 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and storage options include 256GB, 512GB, or a massive 1TB of UFS 4.1.
The phone operates on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 and supports two nano-SIM cards. The camera system is a highlight of the device, developed in partnership with Leica. It features a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch sensor, offering a dynamic range of 14EV and an impressive f/1.63 aperture with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The back of the phone also hosts a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 115° field of view and macro capabilities, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3X zoom, and a 200MP super telephoto lens with 4.3X periscope zoom. For selfies, there is a 32MP front camera capable of recording 4K 60 frames per second.
In terms of additional features, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra comes with an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, an infrared sensor, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and a USB Type-C port. The device is also IP68-rated, making it resistant to dust and water.
